If you're in the process of planning and making space for a dog room in your home or apartment, I've researched three exceptionally ways you can implement one. Whether your space is large or you only have just a tiny nook, your pup will enjoy having his own relaxing haven!
Ready to get some inspiring dog room ideas? Let's get to it!
#1: Designated Dog Room
If you have an extra bedroom or ample space in your basement, why not use up the entire room? (Or most of it!) I love the modern, chic design in this sweet room. The espresso bookshelf, toy chest, and food/water holder looks nice and keeps everything neat and organized. The dots and 'WOOF' wall accent add an extra touch of personality.
What You'll Need:
A large room
Shelving or bins to store dog treats and toys
Framed pictures of your dog
Comfortable, cozy dog bed
Cute pet motifs (see some favorites on the right-hand sidebar)

#2 Dog Mudroom/Washroom
Maybe you don't have an entire room available, but you need a catchall to corral your pup's belongings. I love how this family made use of their mudroom by keeping it usable for both humans AND their pets. They've made great use of the space by storing treats (I love their treat jar!), dog towels, and their food/water dishes.
Not to mention - there's even a shower! If your dogs enjoy frequent trips to the beach, or like to get dirty, a dog shower room is a brilliant idea.

What You'll Need:
A contractor (likely - if you want the dog shower and aren't mechanically inclined!)
Treat canisters (I love this one)
Hooks for dog leashes/coats
Bench with shelving underneath for shoes
Tiled, easy to clean flooring (it IS a mudroom, after all)
Microfiber dog towels for fast drying

#3 Nook and Cranny (Built-In)
What an excellent use of space. I've always been head over heels for built-ins, especially in small spaces. They are such a space saver, and I love being able to display pictures and other trinkets.
This custom-built shelf has a couple of shelves lined with glass treat jars, dog books, and a basket filled to the brim with toys. The cozy cubbie provides a comfortable sleeping nook for a small dog.
If you have a tiny pup, they'll love this dog-friendly space.
What You'll Need:
A contractor (possibly)
Glass treat jars
Basket to store toys
Framed photos of you and your pet
A handy dog book or trinket for display
Cozy blanket or small dog bed for sleeping nook

What type of space would best suit your dog? Consider their size, lifestyle, and temperament. Since my dogs are about 10 pounds each, I could picture them enjoying an "office/designated dog room." Since they're attached at my hip 24-7, I know they'd want to be in the same room as me! I also think they'd like a cozy sleeping spot tucked away somewhere.
